What other things do I need.. Help!

I remember this....

I remember in 8th grade health class they split up the girls and the guys and we learned a little more about "sex ed". I remember that at the end of the of the whole class series we watched the NOVA video about the miracle of life... I just remember it was the first time for me seeing a live birth in action... being that age of course it was pretty disturbing and I thinkn I may have had to shut my eyes at some point since it looked so painful, ahhh! Anyway, I just remembered about his video and thought I would find it and post it here for those who want to watch. I think it is a great video and shows lots of live footage of inside the womb. This is a great video to have in addition to the National Geographic video I have posted a little lower on my blog. They are both a little different and have great info!

Pregnancy and Baby Books You Have to Have!

Below are some of the pregnancy and baby books that I have found to be very helpful and think are great books to have, especially if its your first pregnancy!! You can get all of these books at amazon for super cheap. I posted all of the links to the books below the posts so you don't have to do any extra searching.

What to Expect When You're Expecting, Only 9.00 at Amazon.com, I wish I would have known this before I bought my copy, I paid almost $15 dollars for mine at Target :( You can also buy it used for only $6.00, What a Deal

This next book is so great, I love it! Again at Target this book was about 20 dollars but at Amazon it is only $13.57 or as low as 4.49 used, but used might not be so fun if someone has already written in it haha. The pregnancy journal is so much fun because not only does it give you all the good week to week baby info but you can interact by being able to write in it about your experience throughout your pregnancy. It will be fun to look back and read it all later!!! This is also available in Baby's First Year Journal.

My best friend sent me this movie at Christmas time. It is the national geographic "in the womb". Its a great documentary that shows week by week progress of your pregnancy. Its so neat to watch, Ive watched about 3 times now as my pregnancy has progressed. Its definitly a must have!

This looks like a cute book although I do not have it Im thinking about purchasing it now!

My mom got this book for daddy to be and it is great! It tells dad everything he needs to know about what you are going through during pregnancy and how to help you and make you more comfortable. I have actually caught myself reading it because it actually has some tips and info that my books dont even have!! Great daddy book!

I definitly plan to get this book before the baby is born. I hear that it is super helpful!!

This is the same as the pregnancy journal but for baby's first year. How fun!

This next book will be fun for after the baby is born. You can keep track of everything the baby is doing. Eating schedule, feeding, pooping. Journal it all! Also available in Aqua!

More on Breast Pumps....

(click here to see original post)

So after asking around to family members and reading alot of information online I have found that breast pumps are not an item to skimp out on money wise if you plan to breast feed and pump. I had been clueless as to which pump to buy and what price range to choose but most people I have asked have said that you have to buy the expensive ones to get a good one. I of course was hoping to buy closer to the middle of the road but as I am hearing its worth it to get a good one. I have also heard from most people that Medela is the brand to go with and is the most often recommended from the sources I have found.

The most recommended was the Medela Breast Pump in Style with backpack at amazon.com 4 1/2 out of 5 star user ratings.

Maternity Pants and Jeans

I noticed a post on a pregnancy blog about maternity pants and finding good ones that will stay up even during early pregnancy when you don't have as big of a bump to keep them up! I wanted to share some of the tips and products that were given with everyone as Im sure many of you are having the same problem!

BeBand Maternity band at Target $16.99.
Received 4 out of 5 star user rating.

Secret Fit Belly Jeans from Motherhood. They range from $24.99 - $44.99.

JCPenny Duo Line.

A Pea in the Pod offers designer maternity jeans starting at about $210.00

Baby Monitors

Next Up... Baby monitors! So the next thing on my baby shopping list is a baby monitor. There are several of these to choose from in a variety of different price ranges, so the question is, what price point do I select? I have seen so far baby monitors ranging from 20 all the way up to 200 dollars or so. Is it better to buy an inexpensive one? After all they all do the same thing right? Or are there features I don't know about yet hmmmm.

My first selection is the Sony Baby Call NTM-910 and is priced around $30.00. This has features like rechargeable battery, 5 sound sensor activity lights, out of range indicator, and low battery warning. It also advertises that it uses the clearest channel available to deliver crisp sound. User ratings vary depending on which website you find it but it averages at about 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

This one is a bit fancier, it is the Summer Infant 02090 Hand held monitor with night vision. This is priced from about $140-$180 depending on where you buy. This is obviously much more than just a sound monitor as you can actually see the baby without having to peak in. It has rechargeable batteries, belt clip, and kickstand for extra convenience. User ratings are 4 1/2 out of 5 stars on most user reviews! Definitely a fun baby item to have if you have the cash for it!

This is the Graco iMonitor digital baby monitor with vibration and is priced around $59.99. This has 100% digital technology with crystal clear clarity and complete privacy with a range of up to 2000 ft. This also has the added vibration feature which is unique, this allows you to do activities like listen to music, watch TV, workout, etc and still allow you to feel the vibrations when the baby makes noise, you don't have to worry about not being able to hear the baby! This is actually the one that I chose. I really liked the vibration feature on this baby monitor and also the sleek design! I cant wait to put it to good use:)

Stay at Home Mom

I have decided that when the baby comes I plan to be a stay at home mom. I have always wanted to be able to be around those first years for my little one and have that full "stay at home mom experience". I think in our situation it makes more sense anyway for me not to work. Daycare is so expensive that I would be working basically just to pay for it and miss out on precious moments so for now daddy is happy being our family supporter:) I actually decided to start a little early, my morning/day/night sickness was so bad that I was unable to go to work half the time so my fiancee told me that if I wanted to quit and stay home that he was 100% ok and that he would rather me be at home relaxing and preparing for baby than miserable at work (I hated my job anyway). So here I am Ive been staying at home now for about 6 weeks which has been nice but a bit boring needless to say. I have been having a lot of fun passing the time creating this baby shopping blog and have been so pleased to have so many readers and people who appreciate the information I am trying to share with everyone. This has all been a learning experience for me so I have been happy to share and get advice and opinions from your experiences!! One of the other things that I had been concerned about is not having "my own" money. I have always worked and been able to provide for myself so I didn't want to feel like I had nothing of my own. Options are very limited for making money at home unless you want to babysit or actually work doing at home telemarketing or something which isnt going to work once the baby comes anyway. I finally stumbled upon this website called inbox dollars. It was advertised as getting paid to read emails which I thought was a scam. Anything tha sounds that easy is probably a scam right? Well I decided to try it out since after all its free and its wasn't like I had to give my credit card info or anything fishy like that. So That was about a month or so ago and I just receive my first check for $27.31! (click the image on the left for full view) I know its not much but I was so excited that I could actually make real money for doing hardly anything. It turns out that you really do get paid to read emails... you only get paid about 3 cents per email that you read but believe me it adds up fast! The other thing I found out is that you can also take Online Surveys and make 0.50 cents per survey, sometimes more depending on what company needs the feedback. You can also make 0.50-5.00 dollars off of free offers that you try. Whats cool about that is that I made o.75 cents off of a free trial that I signed up for that sent me 3 free issues of O magazine and I never spent a penny, I also did a free trial for Caribbean magazine and made another 0.75 cents and have received 4 free magazines so far plus I get free coupons, and all kinds of cool stuff. I remember when I first started my fiancee was making fun of me, I would be taking surveys and he would tell me I was wasting my time that I would never see a check. But 3 days ago, there is was in the mail HA, whos laughing now :) Anyway, I just had to share this with everyone because if you are bored a lot right now like I am it definitely helps pass the time, plus you make extra cash and who doesn't love that:) I posted the link to the website below if you are interested in giving it a try!

***UPDATE 3/1/10*** Since I received my last check my Inbox dollars account is already back up to $41.92 cents! So exciting!!! Im trying to get to $50.00 before I request my next check and will take a pick of that one as well!!

3/11/10 ******** UPDATE *******
I have noticed that a lot of you have signed up for the Inbox dollars. I just wanted to give you some tips on making money faster on there. Make sure that you try taking the surveys, but most of all complete the %100 Free Cash Offers... You will see it on your menu. These are just random things you can sign up for that are completely free, you don't have to give a credit card or anything and you will earn money just for signing up. Often times to you will get free product samples and magazines. The Best thing to do is set up a separate email account just for inbox dollars as you will tend to get a lot of spam but as long as you use a second email its no big deal. I look forward to checking mine everyday!! Also if you shop online alot make sure you visit the shopping section. Many stores like Target and JCP are on there and if you shop online you earn a percentage of your spending's back on inbox dollars... It really is great!
